There are opportunities for volunteers from Messiah and their friends to show Christian love and to share Christ's message of Hope with others in the community.
SERVANT EVENTS YEAR ROUND
Love, Inc. - 704 536-5588
- As of June 1, 2010, the Mecklenburg County Dept. of Social Services will be discontinuing grocery shopping assistance for low-income elderly or disabled clients. This has long been part of their In-Home Aide service. These individuals are going to need our help if they are going to be able to get the food they need to remain healthy enough to stay in their own homes for as long as possible. Since we all have to go to the grocery store anyway, forming a relationship with someone who needs grocery shopping assistance is not a difficult task. are you willing to befriend someone who needs this type of help and shop for them at least once a month? You can make a huge difference in their health and in their lives by providing this service. Cal the Love INC office for more information at (704) 536-5588.
- Computer ministry is collecting used computers (and all accessories) and refurbishing them to donate to low-income students and adults. Call for necessary specifications.
- Love, Inc. has many projects which require visits to those in need - weatherization, care for the elderly/handicapped, etc.
- Baby Layette Program - Supplies needed: Onesies and sleeping gowns; towels, wash cloths, and bibs; Booties and receiving blankets; Disposable diapers and wipes; Bassinets; Crib sheets and blankets; Mattress pads and waterproof pads; Shampoo, lotion, and baby wash; Bottles; New or very gently used clothing and toys for 0-3 months
Room In the Inn - Although Messiah is not currently housing homeless, Messiah members can reach out by helping those congregations who are providing housing. Transportation, Food preparation, and just being there are all welcome forms of action.
