The single biggest reason that believers don’t evangelize is… ―I’m afraid.
Let’s be clear on two points:
1) Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4)
2) Fear in evangelism is normal!
Even the Apostle Paul was not exempt from fear in evangelism, and he asked for boldness. So, what was it about Paul that helped him overcome fear and share the gospel with boldness, even in difficult circumstances?
In 1 Thessalonians 2:1-10, Paul lays out three fundamental principles that we can apply to help us overcome fear with boldness:
- You know God’s message
- You are God’s messenger
- You have God’s motive
But, what in the world has this to do with the German Church here in Charlotte? Answer: Everything and nothing!
Let me explain. Nothing, it is the universal truth what all believers have to face in their daily walk with the LORD.Jesus commanded ―Go and make disciples! Go, go now! Everything, I am serving the German Church sometimes up to 100 hours a month (plus my full-time job and the very important part in my life, my family and sometimes I need sleep :-). I can not do this alone, I can not reach alone the German speaking population here in Charlotte on my own. I need your help and support by this important mission!
Apostle Paul needed support for his task. Martin Luther needed friends after proclamation of the 95 Theses. Even today, ask preachers, pastors or missionaries, they need help by fulfilling their work for the LORD as well.
What you can do is following: You can pray or you can talk to a friend who speaks or try to speak German and invite him/her to our Services at St. Mark´s or to the German Bible study here at Messiah. You are God´s messenger! 1 Thessalonians 2:4 But as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who tests our hearts.
