MESSIAH'S MESSENGERS Rehearse Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30.

This awesome group of young singers lift us in worship at various times throughout the year in both the 8:30 and 11:00 worship services. They also provide a Christmas musical and take advantage of opportunities to go into the community. In rehearsal, they will learn Bible stories correlating to the songs they are preparing, basic music reading skills, will begin to sing in parts, and incorporate movement into some of their songs. Handchimes, boomwhackers, rhythms instruments and musical games are also utilized.

All you have to do is be a kid to join.

From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise . . .
Psalm 8:2

. . . and Messiah's children's choir (Messiah's Messengers) sang their hearts out for the Grandpas and Grandmas at Plantation Estates, Special Care Unit.

For our children, many whose grandparents live far away, it was a real treat to sing for their "adopted-for-a-day" grandparents and the residents expressed the same sentiment - it was a real treat to have our kids sing to them.  They sang the songs they have been singing throughout this past year - Jesus, I will Magnify You, Your Faithfulness, Sing Unto the Lord, The Perfect Ten and others.  Great messages to sing, great messages to hear.  And, there were some wonderful moments for greetings and hugs after the music.

Thanks to our kids; thanks to the parents who helped out with the pizza dinner and transportation; thanks to God for the many opportunities we have to serve and be ambassadors.

MESSIAH HANDBELL CHOIR Rehearse Thursdays, 6:30 to 7:30

Making a joyful noise to the Lord with four octaves of Malmark English Handbells and two octaves of Malmark Handchimes is what this group is about. Their selections are ones that will enrich worship while at the same time challenge the players to advance their music reading and ringing techniques. They play once per month for both the 8:30 Traditional and 11:00 Blended Services.

Reading musical rhythms is a help for being able to play the handbells.

KEYS TO THE KINGDOM Instrumental Ensemble Rehearse Wednesdays, 7:30 to 8:30

Band, Orchestra, and Praise Band instruments combine to play arrangements of traditional hymns and contemporary songs. This group will also occasionally accompany the choir or congregation. They play once per month for both the 8:30 Traditional and 11:00 Blended Services. Their pieces include both ensemble and full orchestral arrangements.

At least two years of playing experience are necessary - simplified parts can be made available for those that are challenged. But we encourage all levels of playing, knowing that the less experienced will grow that much faster for playing with the group. Returning college instrumentalists are invited to participate in holiday presentations.

DRAMA Rehearse as needed for special programs or worship skits

Various groups have been formed for various needs. Past programs include:

  • Youth Musical Tours in the summer - Narnia, Godspell, Flashback
  • Adult and Youth Dinner Theaters - Uncle Phil's Diner I & II, Comedy Mystery Dinner
  • Short worship skits

All experienced or aspiring actors are encouraged to audition.

They sing a wide range of repertoire, traditional and contemporary, and delight in singing in various styles - all for the Glory of God. Thursday rehearsals are dedicated to great vocal sound using tested vocal production techniques, a beautiful blend of voices and sensitive interpretation of our anthems, musical skill building, fellowship and fun. Promise has been leading contemporary worship service since the summer of 1998. The group has released two CD's of all original music. The first, This Is Heaven, came out in November of 2001. The second CD, Truth Has a Name, was released in December of 2003 and their third CD, No Greater Cause, became available in November of 2007. The members of Promise would like to express their appreciation for the ongoing love, encouragement, and support of families, friends, and fellow Messiah members. Promise's new album bursts forth with 10 new original songs by Bryan VanderHill.

Bryan's confident songwriting is smart enough to challenge you intellectually yet straightforward enough to immediately touch your soul. From the quietly introspective searching of Run to You and Lead Me On to the passionate proclamations of God's grace and goodness in The Best Is Yet to Come, we are reminded of God's presence in every aspect of our lives. The broad stylistic range of this album includes great solid rock, heart-rending ballad, praise and worship and even great, fun, thigh-slapping bluegrass - I'll Take All the Jesus I Can Get. While the arrangements are a testament to Promise's continued musical growth and Mike Tate's production skills, the lyrics are a testament to the moving of God's spirit through our lives.

CD's may be purchased for $10 by contacting Bryan at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or you may purchase the CD at the welcome center at Messiah after Sunday worship.
