OPEN DOOR FELLOWSHIP is an outreach ministry of Messiah Lutheran Church, a small group of people who want to share the love of Jesus in the Weddington area.

open_door_istock_000003107102xsmall.jpgThey have chosen the name OPEN DOOR based on Revelation 3:20 and their intention to call people to hear Jesus' invitation to open the door of their hearts to Him. It is also their mission to be an OPEN DOOR for people who want to return to the Christian faith or those who would be ready to be introduced to Jesus for the first time.

They are meeting each Sunday at 10:00 am in an informal setting to share God's love and hear His voice.

They are now meeting at Rea View Elementary School, 320 Reid Dairy Road. The school is located just off Rea Road near the intersection with Providence Road in the Weddington area. The main entrance for the school is off of Reid Dairy Road. There is not an entrance off of Rea Road. April 29, 2008

Dear Pastor Baldinger and Members of Messiah Lutheran,

Grace, mercy, and peace to you from God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. It is with joy and thanksgiving that I accept the opportunity to serve Christ and His Church at Messiah Lutheran in Charlotte, North Carolina!

As I write this letter, I am remembering the words of the epistle lesson proclaimed in the Call Service this past week at the seminary. St. Peter writes, "You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ."

God has done some building in me over the past three years at the seminary in preparation for the pastoral office. My seminary experience has given me an opportunity to grow in understanding of my faith, and shaped both my mind and my heart for work in God's Church with His people. I look forward to the building He will continue to do in me and in you, as we serve together to advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

My wife, Becca, and I are very excited about moving to Charlotte and getting to know you all. Becca is originally from Tampa, FL, and graduated from the University of Missouri. She is a registered dietitian. I am from Nebraska and graduated from Truman State University - a smaller school in northeast Missouri. We have been married now for four years. Between school and seminary we served for one year with LCMS - World Mission in Vietnam teaching English. Now we anticipate the next step in our lives!

We pray for you and your ministry in the coming months as we await our move to Charlotte. May those months be a fruitful time of service and growing in the Lord.

In Christ,

Andrew Schermbeck
